Requirements for Signatories

The CANIE Accord is comprised of 70 items across five separate categories: Travel, Climate Education, with each item being categorized as "Basic", "Better", and "Best" practices.

Signatories to the CANIE Accord are required to agree to the purpose and principle of the Accord (Article 3) plus commit to at least five climate actions spanning three or more areas (Articles 4-8).

The following items are required as part of the signatory commitment submission for your organization:

  • Contact details for two members within your organization;
  • An organization logo (Max Size: 1MB, Format: PDF, PNG, JPG)
  • 500 Character description of your organization


Become a Signatory

The process to becoming a CANIE Accord signatory is outlined below:
Complete the Commitment Submission Form
This process will take approx. 10 - 20 minutes to complete. For each item of the CANIE Accord, you will specify if it is an action you will take, not take, or if it is not applicable.
Review your Organization's Commitment Landing Page
Within two weeks of your submission, you will be contacted by a CANIE Volunteer to ensure your commitments are correctly represented.
Receive your CANIE Accord Badge and Marketing Toolkit
Once you have approved your organization's commitment landing page, you will receive materials to promote your commitment to taking climate action.

Benefits of Signing the CANIE Accord:

Becoming a signatory to the CANIE Accord shows your organization's commitment to climate action in the sector of international education. Students, partners, and staff will be be able to see your organization's commitments to taking urgent action required by the climate crisis.

Signatories will receive the following once they have formally signed on to the CANIE Accord:

  • Landing page on the CANIE website listing your organizational commitments to the Accord
  • Digital badge for use on marketing materials
  • CANIE Accord signatory marketing toolkit
