Hong Yang is a Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Reading, the UK, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. In recent years, Hong's research interests have expanded to encompass the intricate relationships between air, water, climate change, and human activities, all with the goal of promoting Education for Sustainable Development. Hong has led and participated in research projects funded by organizations such as the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the Royal Society, Research England, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the European Research Council, and various University Teaching and Learning Enhancement Projects and Partnerships in Learning and Teaching projects. Hong has published over 190 papers, which have been cited more than 7,000 times, with a H-index of 48. In 2022, he received the Research Engagement & Impact Award.
