Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan
I am passionate about both international education and climate action, having worked in both areas for a number of years. My academic background, however, had little to do with either! I have a PhD in Egyptology from the University of Auckland, and spend a good chunk of my PhD years between Egypt and Europe.
Now based in Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland, I have been with Study Group for the last 6 years. Currently, I am their Compliance and Quality Assurance Manager for the Asia Pacific region. On top of my day to day activities, I also mentor international students on Te Tiriti o Wantangi and sustainability, and empower them to make changes in their own ways.
Outside of work, I was a former national Policy Co-convenor of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, and one of their current Party Co-convenors (i.e. Party President). My strength lies in grassroots governance, and I look forward to working alongside everyone to advance CANIE’s interests and grow our shared awareness on the interconnectivity between climate action and international education in the region.
