Adinda van Gaalen is a strategic advisor on internationalisation, research and cooperation ethics at Inholland University of Applied Sciences (UAS). She is also a PhD candidate at Ghent University.

Her research focuses on agenda setting for higher education at national level and on the role of values and dilemmas in policy development. Key themes include for instance inequality, brain drain and the carbon footprint of the internationalisation of higher education. She is (co)author of publications on IoHE including a number on the interplay between internationalisation and climate change.

She has been involved with CANIE since 2020. Previously, she worked as coordinator of the research policy team at Inholland UAS and as a policy advisor and researcher at the Dutch National Agency Nuffic. She also led the international office at HES Amsterdam School of Business.

Adinda is a member of the EAIE thematic committee on research on internationalisation and chair of the Dutch Network of Research Policy Advisors in Universities of Applied Sciences. She has contributed to the development of green travel policies at Nuffic, Ghent University and Inholland UAS.
