Adrienne Fusek
| CANIE Board Member | Lecturer @ San Diego State University

Adrienne is a founding board member of CANIE and co-chair of CANIE’s Climate Justice working group. She is the lead author of the Glasgow Paper and the CANIE Accord and served as co-chair on the Forum on Education Abroad working group that wrote the guidelines on advancing the UN SDGs through education abroad.

She is a member of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Leader Corps and a proponent of radical decarbonization in international education.

Adrienne is currently a lecturer at San Diego State University and advises universities and nonprofits on all aspects of global education with expertise in global strategy creation, sustainable development, and inclusive climate action.

Kate Whitfield | CANIE Oceania Member | Director & Carbon Literacy Trainer @ Zeroverse

Kate founded Zeroverse in 2021 after studying decarbonisation strategies with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. Her research on sustainable operations is published in peer-reviewed journals including The Lancet Planetary Health. She has worked in clinical research and global health in the academic sector for approximately 20 years. Zeroverse provides accredited carbon literacy and climate action training for the academic sector. Together, Big Pond Education and Zeroverse have developed an accredited carbon literacy training programme tailored to the International Education field. Kate's first job was with the municipal recycling service in the UK. She is currently based in Japan.
